Practice 10: Do schools kill creativity?

 Questions about TED Talk:

1. What's the topic of the TED talk? What's the main idea? When does the speaker introduce his idea? How?

·The topic is the importance of creativity and the main idea I think is that creativity should be given the same importance as all subjects. Enter the idea in about the fourth minute, after a little introduction.

2. What are the means of support used by the speaker to convince us that his opinion is right? Provide examples.

·He speaks to us first of personal matters, such as his wife and children. Similarly, Robinson tells us about a Picasso quote and it is “all children are born artists, the problem is to remain an artist as we grow up”. Moreover, he tells us a fact which is that according to UNESCO, more people will graduate than ever before in the next thirty years. He also talks about examples and personal anecdotes. He uses jokes and a sense of humor, and I think that's why he can convince people, among other things.

3. What's the speaker's conclusion? How does he “conclude”?

He mentioned the bad consequences that will be in the future if creativity not received the place that it needs.

FIRST PARAGRAPH:

Is creativity given the same importance as other subjects?

All the students in the world should be able to develop their creativity freely, without anyone belittling it. No subject is more valid than another, but sometimes people give more importance to Science subjetcs that Humanities subjetcs, for example. But it is not all, because there are several subjetc that probably someone won't like and I think the society is not be able to realized of it. For me, not letting each student's creativity grow is like asking an elephant to climb a mountain or a horse to fly.

SECOND PARAGRAPH:

Can bad consequences exist in the future if creativity won't develop?

That creativity does not develop freely in each person can have fatal consequences. An example of this is when a person is forced to work in something that this person doesn't like. Each person can be the best in the field they like the most if we let them grow within it. It is just as valid one vocation as another, so we must allow develop the differents passions in each person. If we do not do this, in the future we will not have great professionals or lovers of their work, but sad people who one day did not develop their potential.
